Abstract: To investigate the combustion and flow characteristics in the combustion chamber of noncoaxial powder engine, a 3D numerical simulation of the flow field in the combustion chamber is conducted. The effects of noncoaxial powder injection mode, flame holder and the diameter of aluminum particle on the flow field characteristics of powder engine are analyzed. The calculation results show that the noncoaxial powder feeding mode can promote the mixing and combustion of reactants in the engine. Installing flame holder and reducing the diameter of aluminum particle can improve the combustion performance of aluminum powder and increase the pressure and temperature in the combustion chamber.
